Memorial commissions are a real challenge when there's a limited choice of reference photos. Here's the small snapshot I had to work from to do the portrait of this little sweetie:
The difference between a photo and a painting is time. A photograph is the record of an instant. A painting or drawing records the relationship between the artist and subject over the period it takes to complete the work. As such it embodies more than just a moment's image, it embodies change. This is especially true of the portrait. I invite commissions. For fees and procedures go to: www.jcrowtherart.com/Best_Friends.html

Landseer Norwegian
The Landseer Norwegian is named for Sir Edwin Landseer (1802-1873), the acclaimed British painter. It may be the only time that a breed was named for an artist.
